OUR STORY

Madisyn’s death became a heartbreaking reality for my family and friends just five days after she gave birth, following her “mental breakdown.” Tragically, she relapsed and accidentally overdosed. Believing she was using a familiar substance, Madisyn unwittingly ingested a deadly dose of fentanyl disguised as heroin, while an “acquaintance” kept the genuine heroin for himself. Just hours before her breakdown, she confided in me about her determination to enter a private rehabilitation center for six months to address her mental health challenges and the trauma that led to her substance use disorder.

Her passing shocked everyone who knew her. Madisyn had been navigating recovery, grappling with emotional pain and a broken heart, and yet she faced her struggles with resilience. Before entering any room, she would don a smile, concealing her fears of judgment. Her love for her three-year-old and newborn sons was unwavering, even amidst her personal turmoil. Throughout it all, Madisyn kept a journal filled with her dreams and aspirations for a better life for herself and her children.

Unfortunately, the long wait times and limited resources for rehabilitation posed a significant barrier. Being pregnant further complicated her access to support, as both public and private facilities turned her away due to lack of space and her condition. It was a cruel paradox: requiring help yet being denied.

In the wake of this devastating loss, I, Sherri, am determined to be my daughter’s voice, alongside our family, friends, and community. This commitment has inspired the creation of MADISYN’S MOVEMENT, aimed at supporting individuals of all ages who struggle with mental health issues, trauma, and substance use disorders.

Remember, you are never alone; we are here to help “BREAK THE CYCLE.” Let us ensure that the loss of our loved ones is not in vain. Rest in peace, my angel. We are fighting for you, and we love you dearly. xxoo

our mission

Throughout the past few years while struggling with the grief of my daughter’s passing, together with the children’s grief in coping with their loss, my passion and focus has shifted to the children and to all families and caregivers struggling to cope and find balance in their lives.

We strive to be a place where families and individuals can turn to when they are struggling to find the resources they need whether to support children through loss, improving mental health for both children and adults, or assisting those battling substance abuse disorder.
